Volte Mobile was founded in Switzerland by three friends and former Siemens employees, Daniel Brugger, Nils Martin Hauser and Dominic Guignard. The company is planning on expanding operations throughout Europe.

Volte is a freelance network operator in the sense that it does not possess a network of its own. Volte provides means for customers to use their own devices on the networks of other providers.

Volte has no direct relationship with mobile operators, instead it offers its customers a contract with a local mobile network operator. Volte mobile technology supports simultaneous Voice and Data services on a single network. This technology is required to achieve better quality of service (QoS) for Voice over LTE (VoLTE) services. A VoLTE call will seamlessly switch from Wi-Fi or cellular to the other, depending on which one is most suitable at that time.
